How many off-leash areas does Surrey have?

Surrey operates 19 off-leash areas across the city, varying considerably in size and amenities. Our directory lists 20 Surrey dog parks with maps, hours and amenity detail. Are Surrey dog parks fenced?

Nearly all of them. All Surrey dog off-leash parks are fully fenced except Freedom, Tannery and Dogwood, and about 80% of the parks we list are fenced overall. Can dogs go on Surrey beaches?

Not between 15 May and 15 September each year, which is exactly when most people want to go. The single exception is the off-leash area at Blackie Spit Park, which remains available through the summer months. Outside that window dogs are permitted on Surrey beaches under normal leash rules. Check posted signage, since the seasonal restriction is enforced and catches out visitors from neighbouring municipalities.

What are Surrey dog park hours?

Surrey off-leash areas are open from dawn until dusk rather than around the clock. That matters considerably in winter, when useful daylight is short and many owners can only walk after work. Only about 20% of the parks we list have lighting, so check which nearby sites are lit before committing to one as your winter regular, and carry a torch or collar light as backup.

Does my dog need a licence in Surrey?

Yes. All dogs over three months of age must have a Surrey dog licence, and dogs must be kept on a leash no longer than three metres outside off-leash areas. Owners found with dogs off-leash in undesignated areas can face fines of up to $2,000, which is among the steeper penalties in this guide. While off-leash, your dog must remain under full control at all times.
