Overview
Ruff Ranch Dog Park sits inside Painted Sky Park at 10200 S Picacho Trail in Apache Junction, Arizona, and is run by Apache Junction Parks and Recreation.
Rather than the usual large and small split, the city divides its dog parks into three purpose built zones. The Mesquite area is the active side for energetic dogs that enjoy play and socialising. The Palo Verde area is a passive space for shy or timid dogs of any size. The Ironwood area is reservable.
Restrooms, shade structures and benches are provided. The dog park sits across Blossom Rock Trail from the main park area, so aim for that side when you arrive.
Painted Sky Park opened in August 2024 and was named 2025 Outstanding Facility for its population category by the Arizona Parks and Recreation Association.

Rules and Access at Ruff Ranch Dog Park
The city requires dogs to be registered with current vaccinations and to wear visible tags.
The Ironwood area can be booked for classes, events and private hire, which also makes it an option for dogs not yet ready for open off-leash socialising. Reservations are taken at least three days ahead, online or in person at 1035 N Idaho Road.
Wednesday hours are cut short for maintenance, and the schedule shifts again for summer, so check the day you plan to visit rather than assuming the standard opening times.
