The dog park has separate spaces for large and small dogs across about 1.63 acres of maintained grass.
Entrances and pathways are ADA compliant and double gated, and there are cooled drinking fountains, bins and waste bag dispensers.
Cooled fountains are the detail that matters. In a Phoenix summer, water from an ordinary pipe comes out hot, and a chilled supply is the difference between a usable park and a decorative one.

Hours run 6AM to 10PM daily.
Steele Indian School Park around it covers 72 acres of grass and mature shade trees on a historic site, and is the main special event park in central Phoenix. Large events can make parking difficult.
The dog areas have closed for extended maintenance periods in the past, so it is worth checking before travelling any distance.
From May through September, ground temperature is the binding constraint here. Early morning and after dark are the only sensible windows.
