Overview

South Paw Dog Park is a private community amenity at 29619 Tierno in the Esencia village of Rancho Mission Viejo, California.

It is for Rancho Mission Viejo residents and is entered with a key fob, so it is not a park to plan a trip around unless you live there or are visiting someone who does.

The park is fenced with separate areas for large and small dogs, obstacles, and dog washing stations with warm water.

It sits on the edge of the village rather than in the middle of it, which gives it long views out toward the hills.

What to Expect at South Paw Dog Park

Kevin K describes the layout and the siting: "Obstacles, plenty of room to roam, and separation between large and small dogs. Plus a couple of wash rooms to clean Fido up after rigorous play. The developer could've easily put this in the middle of the suburban metropolis that is Esencia. Instead, it's on the outskirts with one of the best views in the area."

The washing station is the feature owners single out. The OC McNamara Family notes: "Love the dog washing table with warm water. Our dog is ok with baths but loves them here because of the warm water after playing so hard."

They add the reason you will need it: "Turf in the grass area is perpetually wet/muddy."

Zdenka Bacigalova values the closed community: "It's well kept and I love the fact that it's private for RMV residents only. I feel safe to bring my dog around to play with all my neighbors dogs."

Ben Tibbs notes the agility equipment has thinned out over time, with one of the three items removed and not replaced.

The park closes occasionally on weekday afternoons for maintenance, so check before walking over.

Non-residents regularly arrive and find they cannot get through the gate. There is no visitor access.
