What to Expect at Schimmel Dog Park

Jim and Karen Chan give the plain summary: "Medium size park with small dog and large dog sections. Plenty of seating, doggie bag station, and water fountain for dogs and people. Ground is dirt and small gravel."

The surface is the first thing to know. There is no grass, and opinions split on it. Faviola Bugarin Lopez said "there is no grass it's all dirt, I don't mind it's not horrible but not the best," while Anthony Velasquez was blunter about it.

Shade is the real limitation. Adrian Garcia rates the park but warns that "the only downside to this park is the lack of shade during hot summers, you're forced to bathe in the sun." Josh PaperDragon confirms the compensation: "well lit at night. During the summer its busy but not crowded in the early evenings."

He also notes what the city calls play structures: "There is a basic agility course in the large and small dog areas. Disposal bags provided."

Marguerite Harkins mentions the one missing facility: "Only drawback: no bathroom."

Waste left behind by other owners is the most frequent complaint here, so watch your footing near the gates.
