Overview

Sonny Lawson Park is a Denver Parks and Recreation site at 24th Street and California in the Five Points neighbourhood of Denver, Colorado, and it holds one of the city's seventeen dog parks.

The off-leash area is a neighbourhood facility rather than a destination park, serving a dense part of central Denver where private outdoor space is scarce.

Entry is free.

The park is well known locally for its baseball field as well as the dog area, and sits within walking distance of downtown.

Rules and Access at Sonny Lawson Park

Denver applies the same rules at every city dog park, and they are stricter than most municipalities.

Dogs must be spayed or neutered, or hold a current Denver Intact Permit. They must also have a current rabies vaccination and a Denver dog licence.

Children under 10 are not permitted inside the off-leash area, and those aged 11 to 15 must be supervised by an adult.

No one person may be responsible for more than two dogs at a time.

Unlighted city dog parks are open sunrise to sundown, seven days a week, so the practical closing time moves through the year with the daylight.
