Rules and Access at Waterways Dog Park

The residency rule catches people out constantly, and it is the single most important thing on this page. Visitors from neighbouring Hallandale and Hollywood regularly arrive, park, unload and only then discover they cannot get through the gate.

Gabriel Lichtenstein made exactly that trip: "This is a private park. No entry without an Aventura ID. You need to FOB. We have drive all they way from Hollywood." Don Bristow spent five minutes at the gate before spotting "a card swipe security system behind you to unlock the gate."

Dogs must be vaccinated and spayed or neutered to enter any Aventura dog park.

Alcohol, glass containers, open fires, golf activities and excessive noise are not permitted in city parks, and e-scooters and e-bikes are not allowed inside.

Satellite navigation does not land accurately here. Aim for the NE 213 Street entrance and expect a short walk.

Although the city lists a small dog area, visitors report dogs of all sizes sharing the space in practice, so judge the mix on arrival if you have a small dog.
