Overview

Shae Burchfield Memorial Paw Park is a fenced off-leash park at 1595 Wildwood Dr in St. Augustine, Florida. It replaced a set of tennis courts and now runs as a dedicated dog facility.

The park is divided into separate fenced areas for large and small dogs. Surfaces are a mix of grass and sand, with benches, picnic tables, shade in places and its own parking.

Water is the standout feature. The park has a fountain and a pond in the large dog area, plus a wash off station, which is unusual for St. Johns County.

Food is not permitted inside the fenced areas even though picnic tables are present.

Hours, amenities and rating come from this park’s Google listing, and are checked against what visitors report in their own reviews. Listing last updated 19 Sep 2026. We record what those sources say; we do not inspect parks in person.

What to Expect at Shae Burchfield Memorial Paw Park

The water access is what reviewers mention first. David Howard calls it "The only dog park in st johns that has a water fountain in a pond for the dogs to enjoy." Kabootles agrees it is "a great go to dog park which offers access to fresh water" and brings three dogs there to socialise.

Sarh Max watched the site change, writing, "During my visit last year, this area was still tennis courts, and the construction of the dog park was merely a topic of discussion. The dog park now features three separate, fenced-off areas, one of which includes a fountain and a pond."

The pond splits opinion. Connie Wilder was more cautious: "The retention pond in the large dog area looked pretty sketchy. Didn't want to let my dog get in." She also found it short on shade.

Two details worth knowing before you go. Deborah O'Brien notes there are "Picnic tables but no food allowed inside where the picnic tables were," and Douglas Campbell flags the ground: "The ONLY negative is the amount of sand spotted by several grassy areas."
