What to Expect at Tybee Island Dog Park I

Expect a campground park that varies a lot depending on which of the two enclosures you use and when you visit. L K used both and rated them highly: "Just took our dogs to the little dog park (by police station) and to the big dog park that is just around the corner in the campground. Both were VERY NICE: clean mulch, shady trees, nice outdoor furniture, fun playground props for dogs, clean running water."

Grey confirms the setting, calling it "Part of the RV park, but well maintained with lots of toys and water and shade."

Others found less. Anna Bonomi writes, "The signs to get there are easy to follow, it is not exactly where maps takes you. However the actual dog park is kind of sad. There are two options, both have burrs littering the grass." Rhian Davies found it "Decent sized park, not much shade though" and stayed only half an hour in the heat.

One safety note carries real weight. Kaye Bardeloza reports that after an inner gate was removed, "My dog (about 23 pounds) escaped and got hit by a car." A replacement gate has since been fitted, but check the gate arrangement yourself before you unclip a small dog.
