When you visit Mansfield Street Dog Park, please follow these essential guidelines. Your dog must have a current rabies vaccination tag and be licensed by the City.

The following dogs aren't permitted in the off-leash area:

1. Puppies under 4 months old
2. Dogs in heat or exhibiting aggressive behavior
3. Sick or injured dogs

Keep your dog on a physical hand-held leash from the parking lot until you reach the entrance of the paddock.

Once inside the off-leash area, you may remove the leash to allow your dog to play freely. Please don't bring food, toys, or treats into the area, as these items can lead to conflicts between dogs.

You are responsible for supervising your dog at all times and for cleaning up after them. Additionally, a maximum of three dogs per person are permitted in the off-leash area to maintain safety and control.

The park's atmosphere tends to be quiet. Sven Wang noted visiting at 5pm on a Monday and finding "no other dogs when we went," and Yeral Leal observed the park is "always empty." This solitude appeals to some visitors—Chelsea Grossman called it a "Hidden gem! Yay for fenced in dog parks in Boston!"—though others found the emptiness discouraging.

Maintenance and cleanliness have been inconsistent concerns. Multiple visitors have reported litter including beer cans, cigarette butts, dog waste, and trash throughout the space. Kindred Wind's recent visit in October 2025 noted "there was trash" present, and the bag dispenser was empty, requiring visitors to bring their own waste management supplies.

The park also lacks water access for dogs or humans.

The fencing is a reliable feature, allowing dogs off-leash play once inside the paddock. However, facilities are minimal—there is a small bit of shade available at the human seating area, but no other amenities typical of larger dog parks.
