Overview

Wags West Dog Park was Traverse City's first dog park, and it sits at the corner of Bay and Division Streets in the park now known as Slabtown Corner.

The off-leash area is divided into two fenced sections, so dogs of different sizes and temperaments do not have to share one space.

There is a dog waste station, benches for owners and water available for dogs.

The site is compact and close to the centre of town, which makes it a practical stop rather than a destination.

Planning Your Visit to Wags West Dog Park

Traverse City Parks and Recreation asks simply that you clean up after your dog. Waste stations are provided to make that easy.

Being in town rather than out of it, the park is busiest after work and at weekends. Mornings are quieter.

Northern Michigan winters are long here and the ground can be snow covered for months, so surfaces underfoot change considerably with the season.

The Parks and Recreation Department at 625 Woodmere Avenue can answer questions on 231-922-4900.
