Overview

Twin Lakes Recreation Area at 2500 Chapel Hill Road in Columbia, Missouri is a 73 acre city park, and it holds not one dog park but three.

Lakeside is the main one, a spacious area of about 3.9 acres for dogs of all sizes. It is fenced on three sides, with the 16 acre fishing lake forming the western boundary.

Paws Pond is set aside for small dogs, with visitors expected to be no taller than 18 inches at the shoulder.

The Off-Season Dog Park is the third, and it exists for a specific reason. Lakeside closes through the winter, generally December to February, because dogs venture onto the frozen lake. The city created a separate winter enclosure after the fire department was called out nine times in a single season to rescue dogs that had fallen through the ice.

Planning Your Visit to Twin Lakes Dog Park

Which enclosure is open depends on the season, so check before travelling in winter. Lakeside runs roughly March to November, and the Off-Season park covers December to February for dogs of all sizes.

Park hours are 6AM to 11PM.

The wider site adds a fishing lake, a playground, picnic areas and access to the County House and MKT Trails, so there is plenty to do beyond the enclosures.
