Rules and Access at the Outback

A hundred acres is a different proposition from a fenced enclosure. Dogs range a long way here, so the park works on voice control rather than fencing.

Dogs must be well behaved, up to date on vaccinations and under voice control. Aggressive dogs are not permitted, digging is not allowed and owners must clear up.

The ponds are the reason many people make the trip, and the washing station near the exit is there because dogs come out of them filthy. Bring a towel.

Shelby Farms Park is one of the largest urban parks in the United States, so the Outback sits within a much bigger site with its own trails and lakes.

Shelby Farms Park can be reached on 901-222-7275.
